Hello eds,
Just seen on bbc that Mahrez has been allowed out of national camp with Algeria to finalise a move. Also they state Roma as an interested party who have now moved on.
So which team (s) interested in Mahrez?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - Roma are still interested and were still in negotiations last night, so I don't know if you have misread or the BBC are just wrong (again). They were the only team that were in talks when I went to bed last night but Arsenal and a couple of others are still interested, including Monaco. As I was in bed early to prepare for today, a lot could have changed I have to admit.}

BBC had an article saying Roma bid 32m, which was turned down and now they have moved on. They were probably wrong then ed1.

Also ed do you think Man United might look to him? Some outlets say we might but I don't think we are interested in taking him.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - last I heard from the player's side of things, he was pushing to make the move to Roma happen, which is why I would be very surprised if it was anyone else, despite the interest from elsewhere. He is really keen on playing for Roma, not sure why, hateful fans there who should have long ago been banned from European competition.

Man Utd is a very outside chance, Jose wants a wideman, but it was Perisic's ability to cover left back as well that made him so interesting. However Man Utd have had him watched a number of times, so it is not entirely out of the question.}

Also ed1 which players are Leicester looking to bring in before the transfer deadline?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - centre back is their main priority and offloading a few, in particular Musa.}

Thanks ed1.
I think they will land Evans for CB but I think they need a CM as well and I am quite surprised they haven't signed one yet and not linked to any as well ( I know they were in for Krychowiak)
Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I would not be surprised if they turned to Mamadhou Sakho for the defence, as Citeh are likely to outdo them on Evans. They do need a centre mid, but I don't know who they are after, they might just have decided that they will be ok with Amartey moving into midfield, which is where he prefers to play, James, Ndidi and the other lad who is injured and his name completely escapes me right now. The one who was actually their first choice ahead of Kante but they couldn't get so brought him in afterwards instead.}

Nampalys Mendy ed? If so I too had forgotten about him until reading your reply.

I just hope Evans doesn't sign for Citeh.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - that's the lad! Really good player, though Ndidi slotted straight in and made it easy to forget him.

It does seem the most likely as West Brom need a replacement and Pulis likes Mangala and Sakho. Sakho does not want to join West Brom.}

No no ed1 I didn't mean to say in that way. It's just that he was only a couple games into the season and only starting to settle and then got a long term injury and hasn't played much if any.

{Ed001's Note - I know mate, but still you would have had every commentator and pundit constantly mentioning his name if Ndidi had not performed. That's what I was meaning. It would have been impossible to forget him.

By the way, what do you think of James? He certainly has quality, but I do not like the way he races out of the defensive set up to try and nick a ball and, when he fails (which he did every time I have seen them), just throws his arms up in the air and his head back leaving them shorthanded. It is a good few seconds before he gets his head back in the game, plenty of time to cost Leicester a goal.}

Ed001 let's hope your right on Mahrez just got 33/ 1 to join Roma. What I will say though is I guarantee he joins someone else because I never win a bet. ever!

{Ed001's Note - I doubt he will go anywhere if not Roma. Having spoken to people at Leicester, they tell me nothing has changed, Roma's offer is the only one on the table and that is not acceptable to them.}

I have not seen James play too much but I don't think he has the discipline to play in a two-man midfield as you pointed out.
Also I think the fact Kante played for them and was so good has been a hindrance for everyone. All the time they are compared to him which is criminal in my view and I think James tries too much to be like Kante due to all the media pressure (so do others but even more so James because he seems too eager to impress and also to secure a starting berth due to having not played for so long) .

While talking about Leicester's midfield it just got me thinking how many good options they still have. I just think they need a competent manager and they can be a threat to any side.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - shame they don't have one of those, Shakespeare might become one but he is clearly not one yet.}

Sure sure ed1 Shakespeare might turn out to be an inspired choice but he just seems to be a yes man for the players. As an outsider looking in, he just looks like a guy to attend the press conference s and stand at the touchline. It just looks like the players can do whatever they like.

{Ed001's Note - that is exactly what he is. He is their mate and a nice guy that they like but he is not their boss yet. Hard to tell if he will develop the necessary management skills, but signs are not good.}

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}
